
Rector of Tbilisi State University, Academician Jaba Samushia hosted the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan and other representatives of the delegation.
The parties discussed the issues of development and deepening of educational and scientific relations between Georgia and the Republic of Armenia. In particular, they reviewed the details of the creation of the Center of Georgian Studies at the Yerevan State University and the strengthening of the Armenology undergraduate and graduate programs at the TSU Faculty of Humanities.
As part of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was by the TSU rector, academician Jaba Samushia and the Yerevan University rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan.
The memorandum will contribute to the strengthening of ties between the higher educational, scientific and research institutions of the two countries, as well as the development of mutual exchange programs for students. Within the framework of the agreement, students of TSU's Armenology Department will carry out mobility at the Yerevan State University, and students of the Yerevan University's Georgianology Department will visit the Tbilisi State University. In addition, joint scientific conferences will be planned to share experience.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nunu Mitskevichi, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities of TSU, Nana Gaprindashvili and TSU employees.
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan is paying a visit to Tbilisi along with the delegation at the invitation of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli.
