“The director of the scientific and research center Levan Ujmajuridze and the Head of the viticulture and winemaking research service of the Jighaura Scientific Research Center of Agriculture David Chichua met with wine professionals, importers and journalists working on the topic of wine from Great Britain,” - the scientific and research center of agriculture reported.
Wine professionals viewed the ampelographic collection grown at the experimental and demonstration base of perennial cultures of the Jighaura Scientific Research Center of Agriculture; they got acquainted with the history of viticulture and winemaking in Georgia and the wine culture.
The delegation was led by the Director of Swirl Wine Group, Master of Wine Sarah Abbott, who together with other guests tasted wines made from rare grape varieties grown at the base of the center.
It should be noted that 350 foreign and 437 Georgian grape varieties are preserved in the Jighaura collection plantation, including a collection of unique and rare varieties of Georgian grapevines, which were searched and restored for a long time. In parallel with the restoration of grape varieties, the scientific and research center of agriculture produces wines from rare grape varieties and carries out research on them.
