Before the New Year, the relevant services of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia are tightening the control over the extraction and transportation of coniferous plants. Famous people joined the campaign of the National Forestry Agency - "Don't cut fir-trees" and once again called the population to use an artificial Christmas tree for the holidays.
For the illegal extraction, transportation and sale of conifers, the fine for the first time is determined at about 2000 GEL, and in case of repetition - at 5000 GEL, to which the amount of the damage caused to the environment is added. If the amount of damage exceeds 1000 GEL, the person will be held criminally liable.
Coniferous trees and plants can be legally gathered in nurseries, plantations, homesteads; the same refers to their imports, as well.
