
Amendments were made to the Law of Georgia on Labor Migration. According to the Ministry of Health of Georgia, the main goal of the changes is maximum protection of the rights of Georgian citizens seeking employment abroad, also systematic registration of foreign citizens living and employed in Georgia and protection of their rights.
According to the new legislation, intermediary companies that help Georgian citizens find employment abroad are required to provide certification. In addition, foreign citizens employed in Georgia will be registered in a special electronic system. Registration in the same system has become mandatory for the possession of work residence permits and emigration visas in the country. For the maximum effectiveness of the changes, the new law provides monitoring and enforcement mechanisms, which will be implemented by the Labor Inspection Service.
Amendments to the Law of Georgia on Labor Migration entered into force on September 1.
