Former President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, announced that a joint letter with her signature is being sent to European leaders ahead of the European Council meeting. While the agenda includes Ukraine and defense projects, Georgia’s situation is not addressed, which Zourabichvili says is why the letter was sent.
She highlighted that Georgia’s ongoing crisis is part of a broader European challenge, with a repressive regime undermining the country’s independence, democracy, and European identity. Zourabichvili stressed that the situation in Georgia must be included in discussions about Black Sea security, especially with the Georgian government’s plans to allow Chinese influence in the Anaklia port and Russia’s military base in Ochamchire.
Zourabichvili called for Georgia’s issues to be added to the European Council’s agenda for June and stated that she, along with coordinating political parties, is ready to present Georgia’s concerns at the European Parliament.
