Batumi's new, multimodal urea terminal is planning to expand. Wondernet Express Investment Group, the logistics company that owns the terminal, announces that it is planning to make a new investment in the terminal. The goal is to increase volumes and bring new players into the middle corridor.
"We are seriously considering to make new investment, increase volumes and be able to serve more cargoes. Also, we are considering to develop more in different directions and to be completely aligned with the middle corridor. We want to bring other big players into this corridor, however, I can't talk about it in advance.
We have already made a direct investment of $25 million. I emphasized this because it is not easy to attract direct investment from the USA. In the future, it will probably be an investment of several tens of millions of dollars. We are a company focused on fertilizers, but everything is developing so much that we do not rule out, if it is acceptable to our partners, to receive other types of fertilizers and other cargoes, even loaded in containers," - said Mamuka Murjikneli, general director of Wondernet Express Investment Group.
The multimodal urea terminal in the seaport of Batumi closed last year with 70% of its capacity. Achieving this result in a year and a half after the start-up is evaluated positively.
