From August 1, the low-cost European airline Wizz Air will return the second based aircraft to the Kutaisi International Airport and resume regular direct flights from Georgia to the capitals of France and Estonia.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the decision was made at a meeting between the Deputy Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and the Corporate Communications Manager of Wizz AIR, Zsuzsa Trubek. The representative of Wizz Air is on a working visit to Georgia and is holding meetings in Tbilisi and Kutaisi.
Tamar Archuadze, the Head of the United Airports of Georgia, also participated in the meeting. As the Ministry explained, initially, the direct regular flight to Tallinn from Kutaisi will be operated twice a week from August 1, while from August 4 - in the direction of Paris - once a week.
“We are working closely with the Hungarian airline to jointly identify the right destinations so that more European tourists will be able to travel to our country. Simultaneously, Wizz Air plans to increase the frequency of flights to the other destinations from Kutaisi," - the Deputy Economy Minister, Mariam Kvrivishvili, said after the meeting.
The meeting also focused on the challenges and the ways to solve them, which accompany the rapid recovery of tourism sector in Europe and Georgia.
After Tbilisi, Zsuzsa Trubek will arrive in Kutaisi, where he will visit the renovated David Agmashenebeli International Airport and meet with the media representatives, talk about the new destinations and the other innovations planned by the airline.
