“With the construction of each megawatt power station, Georgia will take a very big step on the way to energy independence,” - the First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Romeo Mikautadze, said at the workshop on the possibilities of access to renewable energy financing, which was organized by USAID's Energy Future Assurance Program in Georgia.
"The Government of Georgia actively supports the strengthening of the private sector and its role in increasing the energy security of the country. As you know, the government has adopted a new incentive scheme for renewable energies. The first auction is already underway. Once again, I would like to call for more activity to those who have projects and interest to participate in auctions. The most important thing in this process is that with the construction of each megawatt power station, be it hydro, solar or wind, our country will take a very big step on the way to its energy independence,” - the First Deputy Minister said.
Representatives of the private sector, renewable energy developers, large electricity consumers and financial organizations took part in the workshop. They learned about the potential funding sources, identified innovative strategies, investment resources and financial means.
