Kareli fruit "Chikori" plans to increase its export by 50% this year.
As the director of the company Anano Bezhanishvili told Bm.ge, currently several types of dried fruits are produced, which are presented in the local market throughout the country, and only 30% are exported.
"We have dried plums, persimmons, watermelons, melons, apples and prunes and figs dipped in chocolate. We sell them in packaged form and also by weight, we work in both local and European markets, namely France, Germany, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and the Netherlands. We sell our products in the local market in all chain stores throughout Georgia.
We started working on exports in 2020, which led to a 50%-increase in production last year. This year we plan to further develop in the field of exports and increase the supply of products by another 50% for export markets," - said Anano Bezhanishvili.
The director of the company also assessed the establishment of the Georgian Fruit and Vegetables Exporters' Association and noted that the existence of such organizations is necessary, because small enterprises need assistance in the development of exports.
To be informed, Kareli fruit "Chikori" has been operating in the Georgian market since 2015, which has a black plum orchard and a dried fruit processing plant on 25 hectares in the village of Samtsevrisi in Kareli. The number of employees in the company is 50.
