
The possible appointment of direct flights between the two countries was discussed by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and the Deputy Ambassador of Great Britain to Georgia, Consul Clare Allbless, at a meeting held at the Ministry, which was also attended by the Director of the the United Airports of Georgia, Irakli Karkashadze, and the Head of Trade Relations of the British Embassy, Nino Gamkharashvili.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, both parties will work actively and in a coordinated manner to start direct air traffic between Georgia and Britain.
As it was said at the meeting, the tourist flows from Britain are significantly growing - the awareness of Georgia is increasing year by year, which is shown by the increase in the visitors' number. The representatives of the Embassy of the United Kingdom stated that there was an increased interest from British airlines to operate in Georgia, which created important conditions for the launch of direct air traffic between the two countries.
