In 2024, the Otar Lortkipanidze Vani Archaeological Museum has been honored with another prestigious international accolade — "The Best in Heritage – Project of Influence" award — in recognition of its exceptional role in preserving and promoting Georgia’s cultural heritage.
Following its earlier recognition with the 2023 European Museum of the Year Award and the Sileto Prize, this new award underscores the museum’s growing reputation on the global stage. The award will be formally presented by David Lortkipanidze, Director General of the Georgian National Museum, on May 18, in celebration of International Museum Day.
The "Project of Influence" award, dedicated to the memory of cultural pioneers Kenneth Hudson and Georges-Henri Rivière, is annually given to museums that have already achieved significant success and demonstrate a lasting impact in the cultural field. It is organized by the European Heritage Association in partnership with Europa Nostra, supported by Creative Europe, and under the patronage of the International Council of Museums (ICOM).
The Vani Museum has garnered international acclaim as a model institution capable of driving meaningful social change. It actively engages the public through volunteer programs and educational initiatives, fostering a shared responsibility in preserving archaeological heritage.
Functioning not only as a museum but also as a research laboratory and educational hub, the Vani Museum serves as a vital platform for scientific exchange at both regional and international levels. It bridges the ancient cultural legacy of Vani with contemporary audiences, encouraging dialogue, discovery, and deeper appreciation for Georgia’s rich historical narrative.
