Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilhom Mahkamov, has affirmed that Georgia and Uzbekistan possess substantial potential to deepen economic collaboration across multiple sectors, according to Georgia’s Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
Mahkamov emphasized the strategic value of bilateral cooperation in advancing the Middle Corridor, noting that both the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor and Connectivity Investment Forum and the accompanying meeting of transport ministers from the EU, Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and the Black Sea region are essential platforms for strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries.
He underscored Georgia’s importance as a maritime hub linking Central Asia with the European Union, stressing that effective and ongoing communication between Tashkent and Tbilisi is vital for opening new transport corridors, diversifying existing routes, and further developing regional connectivity.
The Minister also pointed to expanding opportunities in tourism, highlighting positive momentum in the sector and the established air links between the two countries. He noted that direct flights between Tbilisi and Tashkent significantly contribute to enhancing overall economic ties.
