"Relations between Uzbekistan and Georgia are developing dynamically, and we have ambitious plans to further enhance and diversify our economic cooperation,” stated Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, while speaking to journalists.
According to Botchorishvili, the opening of an Uzbek embassy in Georgia is planned for the near future — a move she described as a significant milestone in the growing partnership between the two nations.
“Throughout the conference, I am holding meetings with my counterparts, including a highly productive discussion with the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan,” she said. “Our bilateral relations have been gaining positive momentum, which is especially meaningful in the context of advancing the Middle Corridor project. We exchanged valuable views on economic cooperation and connectivity, identifying new avenues to strengthen our partnership.”
Botchorishvili emphasized that the establishment of the Uzbek embassy in Tbilisi will mark a new phase in bilateral relations. “We have ambitious plans to expand and deepen our economic ties. Uzbekistan plays a vital role in Central Asia, while Georgia’s strategic position in the South Caucasus is equally significant for Uzbekistan. Both countries have great potential in the development of the Middle Corridor, and this area will remain a key focus of our future cooperation,” she added.
The discussions took place on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, currently being held in Samarkand. The event has brought together over 3,000 delegates representing 194 member states and 12 associate countries. The Georgian delegation, led by Minister Botchorishvili, is actively participating in the conference’s proceedings.
