U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Alan Purcell participated in the Black Sea Platform Annual Conference, organized by the EU-Georgia Business Council, where he underscored Georgia’s essential role in the Middle Corridor — a strategic trade route linking Central Asia with global markets.
The U.S. Embassy noted that Purcell highlighted longstanding U.S. support for Georgia’s development of this corridor, including significant Development Finance Corporation (DFC) investments in the New Poti Sea Port to boost capacity and strengthen regional connectivity. He also emphasized growing interest from American companies in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, digital trade, and logistics.
Purcell stressed that the Middle Corridor represents more than a transportation pathway — it is a driver of innovation, collaboration, and economic growth. He welcomed recent diplomatic progress in the region, particularly the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace agreement, stating that “stability creates space for new economic opportunities, including through the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP).”
He reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Georgia and the broader Black Sea region as they pursue greater connectivity, stability, and shared prosperity across the Black Sea and Trans-Caspian region.
