Chair of the United National Movement (UNM) party Tina Bokuchava and Political Secretary Giorgi Baramidze met with Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mihail Popșoi, according to a statement from the UNM’s press service.
The meeting took place in Chișinău following Moldova’s Independence Day celebrations, which were also attended by the leaders of the Weimar Triangle—a diplomatic platform involving France, Germany, and Poland.
Speaking after the meeting, Bokuchava emphasized the importance of continued EU support for Moldova’s accession process and drew parallels with Georgia’s own European aspirations.
“The presence of all three Weimar Triangle leaders—Emmanuel Macron, Donald Tusk, and Friedrich Merz—in Chișinău is a clear sign that the EU is actively supporting Moldova’s path to membership. The EU remains a guarantor of peace, freedom, and prosperity across Europe,” Bokuchava stated.
She also expressed concern about Georgia's current political trajectory, accusing the ruling party, associated with Bidzina Ivanishvili, of obstructing the country’s European integration.
“The Georgian people also belong in the European family. The opportunity is within reach, but it's being denied by Ivanishvili’s criminal regime. That’s why we must double our efforts, both internationally and domestically, to ensure Georgia stays on the European agenda and returns to the path of European integration,” she added.
The UNM representatives reiterated the need for synchronized efforts between political actors, civil society, and international partners to advance Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic future.
