The Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili stated on Monday that this week’s meetings at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva provided an “excellent opportunity” for the Government to once again highlight the challenges facing the country to the international community.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili emphasized that human rights violations persist in the two Georgian regions occupied by Russia, as confirmed by international court rulings.
She also noted that over the next two days, she would hold “important” meetings with officials from international organizations, including the UN Secretary-General and foreign ministers of partner countries.
“Effective steps must be taken to ensure the protection of human rights, including in Georgia's occupied territories,” she stated.
Botchorishvili underscored that “stability and peace” remain key factors for Georgia’s progress.
