The United Nations Permanent Coordinator in Georgia, Didier Trebucq, praised Georgia for hosting nearly 30,000 Ukrainian refugees over the past two years, emphasizing the country's commitment to offering them “protection, dignity, and hope.”
Speaking at a ceremony at the Ukrainian Housing Building, Trebucq said, “This Ukrainian House is a symbol of solidarity and hope for Ukrainian people arriving in Georgia.” He attended the event to award certificates to 19 new businesses launched by Ukrainian refugees.
Trebucq commended the initiative, which is supported by the UN Development Program (UNDP), CARE Caucasus, and the German government. “Ukrainian refugees receive training, learn the language, and gain support to rebuild their lives and create businesses. They are not just numbers—they bring talent and contribute to Georgia’s economy and social cohesion,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian community and reaffirmed the UN's support: “We are very grateful for Ukrainian people welcoming us and our support.”
