
In January-May 2022, the foreign trade turnover of goods in Georgia (excluding undeclared trade) amounted to $6,933.6 million, which is 37.4% higher than the indicator observed in the corresponding period of the previous year. The preliminary data were released by Geostat.
The revenues from the exports amounted to $ 2 112.1 mln. (increased by 37.5%), while from the imports amounted to $ 4 821.5 mln. (up 37.3 percent). Georgia's negative trade balance in January-May 2022 amounted to $ 2 709.4 million, which is 39.1% of foreign trade turnover.
In January-May 2022, the share of the ten largest exporting countries in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 79.3 percent. The largest export trio were as follows: China (US $ 362.8 million), Azerbaijan (US $ 224.1 million) and Russia (US $ 210.3 million).
In January-May 2022, the share of the ten largest import partner countries in Georgia's total imports was 66.1 percent. The top three include: Turkey ($ 830.0 million), Russia ($ 553.9 million) and China ($ 420.3 million).
In January-May 2022, the share of the ten largest trading partners in the total foreign trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 68.6 percent. The country's largest trading partners are: Turkey (US $ 1,024.7 million), China (US $ 783.1 million) and Russia (US $ 764.2 million).
In January-May 2022, copper ores and concentrates took the first place in the top ten of export commodity groups with $ 465.9 million, accounting for 22.1% of total exports. Ferroalloys ranked 2nd with $ 285.7 million (13.5 percent of total exports), while the third place is occupied by cars with $ 191.0 million (9.0 percent).
The largest import commodity group in January-May 2022 was presented in the form of oil and petroleum products, the revenues from which amounted to $ 461.2 million. The second place was taken by cars with $ 454.7 million (9.4 percent of imports), followed by copper ores and concentrates with $ 371.8 million (7.7 percent of imports).
