The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party issued a statement suggesting that the anticipated efforts by the United States President-elect Donald Trump to "successfully dismantle" what it described as an alleged covert global network, referred to as "the deep state," could facilitate a reset in bilateral relations between Georgia and the United States, yielding "mutually beneficial" outcomes.
The party referenced Trump’s pre-election remarks, in which he stated, "Either America destroys the deep state, or the deep state destroys America." According to the GD, the influence of this alleged network has "not only destabilized the United States but has also created global turmoil."
While acknowledging that addressing such alleged networks in Europe "might take time," the party expressed optimism that the Trump administration’s return to power could serve as a "pivotal moment for advancing shared interests" between Georgia and the United States.
The GD also criticized the purported effects of "deep state" policies on Ukraine, citing the country’s substantial economic and territorial losses since 2014. The statement noted that prior to 2014, Ukraine experienced sovereignty, territorial integrity, peace, and an economy valued at nearly $200 billion. "Today, it is practically destroyed, and those responsible for the Maidan events have taken no accountability for this outcome," the party asserted, referring to the anti-government protests and revolution that occurred in Ukraine between 2013 and 2014.
