
According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), Georgian residents made 614,700 trips abroad in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 4.4% year-on-year increase. The majority of these travelers—44.1%—were between the ages of 31 and 50.
Of the total border crossings, 482,100 were classified as visits by Georgian resident visitors, reflecting a 7.6% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
Among these, 323,100 were tourist-type visits, which is 1.7% lower than in Q1 2024. Nearly half (47.1%) of the visits were made by people aged 31–50, and women accounted for 44.9% of all outbound trips.
The primary reason for travel was visiting friends and relatives, comprising 36.6% of all trips. The top destinations were Turkey with 184,900 visits and Armenia with 70,200 visits.
The average number of nights spent abroad rose to 6.7, up 4.0% from 6.4 nights in Q1 2024. Repeat visits dominated, accounting for 98.6% of all travel.
Travel-related spending totaled GEL 481.5 million, up 5.7% from the previous year. The average expenditure per visit increased by 14.4%, reaching GEL 998.8.
