"We discussed with the regional director of the International Monetary Fund the current state of the Georgian economy, the positive trends we have in the country, and which are also the basis of very reliable forecasts for the Fund in order the Georgian economy to grow more than was predicted at the beginning of the year," - said the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Levan Davitashvili said after the meeting with the IMF delegation. As the Deputy Prime Minister said, “the discussion at the meeting touched on the analysis of the factors that lead to such a rapid growth of the Georgian economy, as well as the program of structural reforms - the plan that the country has, which is agreed with the International Monetary Fund and with the support of which we will be able to implement the reforms effectively.”
“In general, we also considered energy security and energy independence issues, energy challenges, and in this regard, the agreement of our new initiatives with the International Monetary Fund is very important for it to be effective and to facilitate additional investments for the development of the energy sector, as well as for Georgia to generate more renewable energy and reduce the deficit and, at the same time, in the long-term perspective, to become an exporter of renewable electricity," - the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili said.
