"Any discussion of repeat elections is off the table, given that the Georgian people have expressed their will with absolute clarity," stated the Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in remarks to the press. He emphasized that the ruling party's electoral victory was substantial, with a margin nearly five times greater than that of the second-place party.
"How can anyone suggest repeat elections when the process was conducted flawlessly and the Georgian people have made their choice clear? Our victory margin was overwhelming – we received approximately five times more votes than the runner-up party. There is simply nothing to discuss here. Naturally, I am not surprised by the EU's position. It goes without saying that repeat elections are out of the question when the Georgian people have expressed their will so definitively," the Prime Minister affirmed.
In a related article, Rikard Jozwiak, Europe Bureau Editor for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, noted that the EU is unlikely to apply coordinated pressure for new parliamentary elections following the October 2024 vote.
