,,The UN Security Council may to vote on a US-drafted resolution calling for a swift end to the Russia-Ukraine conflict on Monday, the third anniversary of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The resolution has only one co-sponsor, the Georgian government,'' The Wall Street Journal reports.
The US draft resolution, which consists of three points, states that it “calls for a swift end to the conflict” and mourns “the tragic loss of lives in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.”
The US resolution does not specify who started the war and does not include specific demands on the Kremlin.
“It has one co-sponsor, the Georgian government, whose ties with Moscow have recently warmed,” The Wall Street Journal wrote.
In addition, the publication reports that the US is demanding that Ukraine withdraw an alternative draft resolution that blames Russia for the invasion of Ukraine.
“We urge Ukraine to withdraw the draft resolution and instead join our resolution, which can be adopted by consensus and which focuses on one simple idea: ending the war,” reads the note, which the United States sent to European capitals.
