“In terms of passenger traffic at the Tbilisi International Airport, the direction of Ukraine occupied 12% of the market, and 30% - in Batumi,” - TAV GEORGIA reported.
Prior to the cancellation of flights, 14 flights a week were performed from Tbilisi to Ukraine, while 4 flights a week - from Batumi to Ukraine.
According to Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV GEORGIA, the appearance of new airlines and the addition of frequencies will compensate for the direction of Ukraine. According to her, AIRBALTIC will start operating at the Batumi International Airport this week. In addition, Uzbek Airlines is starting to operate.
"New airlines are actually entering the market. AIRBALTIC starts operating in Batumi, it is also very important that Condor Airlines has started operating in Tbilisi and we have a new European direction. We are expecting many Iranian airlines in Tbilisi as well,” - said Tea Zakaradze, General Manager of TAV GEORGIA.
To be informed, four airlines – SkyUp, Bees Airlines, Ukrainian International Airlines and Yan Air – were performing flights to different destinations in Ukraine from the Tbilisi and Batumi International Airports. As TAV GEORGIA reported, according to the initial schedule for the summer season of 2022, which was sent by the airlines in January, it was planned to operate flights 22 times a week in Tbilisi and 8 times a week in Batumi.
