“It is very gratifying that the airline Pegasus has decided to operate direct flights from the Kutaisi International Airport with a frequency of three flights per week in the direction of Turkey. This, of course, will give an additional incentive to the further strengthening of the Kutaisi International Airport and the increase in passenger flow,” - the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrivishvili assessed the launch of flights to the Kutaisi Airport by the Turkish airline.
Pegasus will start operating in Kutaisi on the Istanbul-Kutaisi route from December 22. Mariam Kvrivishvili calls this fact another success.
"The airline's decision was preceded by a long-term negotiation. The operation of Pegasus at the Kutaisi airport will also help attract tourist flows, which will especially strengthen Imereti region. We are pleased that Kutaisi International Airport continues to be one of the fastest growing airports - the number of passengers transported by the airport in January-September this year is 93% higher than the indicator recorded in the same period of 2019. Actually, we can rate this as the best year for the Kutaisi International Airport. We are sure that in the near future we will see even more airlines here," - the Deputy Economy Minister said.
To be informed, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia is conducting the negotiations of paramount importance on several issues in order to establish more direct flights from the Kutaisi International Airport to strategic target destinations for the country - with the EU member states, as well as with the Gulf countries and other important destinations.
