Levan Davitashvili, the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Georgia, stated that the agenda of the new United States administration was "fully aligned with the worldview" of the Georgian government, indicating a promising avenue for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
Davitashvili expressed his belief that the shared alignment of the two countries' priorities and values would form a solid foundation for productive relations. "My expectation is that we should have very good relations with the US, based on the fact that the agenda of the new administration is fully in line with the worldview of our government, including the values," he remarked.
The Minister further emphasized that the existing agreement on the strategic relationship between the United States and Georgia should "serve as a foundation for a successful strategic partnership" under the new administration. He acknowledged that the strategic relationship had been somewhat damaged in recent times, describing this as a challenging legacy for the incoming administration. However, Davitashvili expressed confidence that the new US leadership would recognize the importance of shared priorities and values between the two nations.
Davitashvili also highlighted mutual interests in the strategic partnership, conveying hope that it would not only be restored but also elevated to a "qualitatively higher level" in the near future.
