
"Our government has already allocated $ 7 million to help the Ukrainian people, including the Ukrainians who have arrived in Georgia. Up to 1,000 tons of humanitarian aid have been sent to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. Our government has provided significant humanitarian assistance to Ukraine," - Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili said while answering the interpellation questions in the Parliament.
"The country continues to help up to 28,000 Ukrainians affected by the war and currently living in Georgia. Assistance to Ukraine will continue and we estimate that more than $ 7 million will be allocated by the end of the year. As of today, Georgia has sent up to 1,000 tons of humanitarian cargo to Ukraine by air and land.
According to the Ukrainian State Post "Ukrposhta", Georgia ranks first among 191 countries in providing humanitarian aid to Ukraine; several hotlines have been set up for our Ukrainian friends and citizens. We provide the citizens of Ukraine with housing, food, clothing and all the necessities they need in Georgia. We would also like to remind you that by the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, a Ukrainian-speaking sector was established in Tbilisi Public School No. 41. A similar school has been opened in Batumi and a total of more than 900 students have already been enrolled,” - the Prime Minister said.
Irakli Gharibashvili stated that the Ukrainian citizens can enjoy the municipal transport, museums, galleries and other places of interest free of charge. Apart from the government, I would like to note that the private sector (our citizens) is mobilized to help the Ukrainian people, and I want to thank everyone for such unprecedented solidarity," - the Prime Minister stressed.
