The National Environmental Agency has reported that Georgia will experience a significant drop in air temperature on February 28 and March 1-2.
In Western Georgia's lowlands, temperatures are expected to fall to -5 to -10 degrees Celsius, while in Eastern Georgia, temperatures could drop to -7 to -12 degrees. Mountainous regions may see lows between -13 and -18 degrees, with highland areas potentially experiencing extreme temperatures ranging from -18 to -23 degrees.
Forecasters have issued warnings about challenging meteorological conditions on roads in Western Georgia, including ice, freezing power lines, and an increased risk of avalanches in highland areas. Traffic restrictions may be enforced on certain highways due to poor visibility, snowstorms, and ice. The temperature drop could also lead to damage to citrus crops on the Kolkheti Plain.
