Amid ongoing discussions about Georgian-American relations, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that Georgia has received agrément for the appointment of a new ambassador to the United States—marking a significant step toward revitalizing bilateral ties.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze confirmed that the nomination of Tamar Taliashvili has been submitted to the President and that she will soon be officially appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador to the U.S.
“Tamar Taliashvili — an exceptionally qualified candidate — will be appointed as ambassador. The task is clear: to help renew the strategic partnership with the United States,” he stated.
Kobakhidze emphasized the government’s intent to rebuild Georgian-American relations from the ground up, guided by a concrete roadmap and clear objectives.
“We have openly stated that restoring this partnership from a clean slate is essential. Moreover, we want it to be rebuilt with a concrete roadmap and defined objectives,” he said, noting that the Ambassador’s role will include communicating this vision to the new U.S. administration.
The Prime Minister also framed the diplomatic reset within a broader geopolitical context.
“We must reiterate that the struggle between the new administration and the so-called ‘Deep State’ continues, and we have high hopes that the new administration will succeed in this effort.”
Tamar Taliashvili’s appointment is expected to usher in a renewed phase of engagement between Tbilisi and Washington, at a time when Georgia is actively seeking stronger ties with Western partners.
