
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, met with the Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, István Jakab.
According to the parliament’s press service, during the meeting, emphasis was placed on the strong friendship between Georgia and Hungary, their shared values, and a common vision for the future. It was noted that close ties exist between the Prime Ministers, Speakers of Parliament, and members of parliament of the two countries.
Shalva Papuashvili recalled his productive visit to Hungary and stated that the Framework Cooperation Agreement signed last year between the Parliament of Georgia and the National Assembly of Hungary is being successfully implemented, as evidenced by frequent exchanges at all levels and active sharing of experience on various issues.
The discussions also covered ongoing processes within the European Union, as well as the parliamentary elections scheduled to take place in Hungary in April of this year.
István Jakab highlighted the growing support for patriotic forces in Europe and spoke about the ongoing election campaign in Hungary.
He reaffirmed Hungary’s intact support for Georgia’s accession to the European Union.
Irakli Mezurnishvili, Head of the Georgia-Hungary Friendship Group, also attended the meeting.
