Snails produced in Senaki and Khobi will be exported to Spain following Italy.
As Merab Nadaraia, co-founder of the Georgian-Norwegian company (founded by Nadi Group) stated, negotiations are underway and if successful, Georgian-produced snails will be sent to Spain.
Starting from the fall of 2020, the company began exporting live snails to Italy. As for expectations, Nadaria says that as a result of the Russia-Ukraine war, Ukraine will no longer be able to supply the international market with about 800 tons of snails a year, and this niche remains empty.
As it is known, the Georgian-Norwegian company is investing 2 million Euros in the construction of a snail semi-finished factory in Senaki. The factory was built on an area of 1,800 square meters. The project envisages processing of snail meat, which the company will also start from October.
The company owns a snail farm on 6 hectares in Khobi and 3 hectares in Senaki, where an average of 50 tons of snail meat is produced per year. At the moment, the price of 1 kg of snails in the European market is 4.5 euros. By the end of this year, the company plans to increase the snail farm to 20 hectares.
Nadi Group, a snail farm equipped with modern standards, was established in the Akhali Khibula village of Khobi Municipality in Samegrelo region last year within the framework of the United Agro Project. The beneficiary received GEL 1.26 million with a preferential agro-credit.
