
Silk Road Group has issued an official statement following the detention of its founder, Giorgi Ramishvili, at Tbilisi International Airport.
"On July 6, Giorgi Ramishvili was detained during border control at Tbilisi International Airport after a legally purchased and registered firearm—authorized solely for storage—was discovered in his hand luggage.
We call on all parties to refrain from disseminating unverified information, as legal proceedings are currently underway in accordance with applicable law," the statement said.
Ramishvili, who founded Silk Road Group, Silknet, Euronews Georgia, and other companies, was apprehended at the airport's departure terminal. According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, he is under investigation for the alleged unlawful acquisition, possession, and carrying of a firearm.
