
According to the National Statistics Office (GeoStat), 4,461 ships entered Georgian ports and terminals in the third quarter of 2025. Of these vessels, 48.9% were general cargo carriers, 26.9% liquid cargo carriers, 13.4% container ships, and the remaining 10.8% consisted of bulk carriers and specialized vessels.
A year-on-year comparison shows significant shifts in ship traffic:
General cargo ship arrivals increased by 54.6%.
Specialized ship arrivals grew by 30.0%.
Container ship traffic declined by 39.4%.
Liquid cargo ship arrivals fell by 7.0%.
Passenger movement through Georgian ports also saw substantial growth. In Q3 2025, ports served 4.2 thousand passengers, marking a 2.1-fold increase compared to the same period in 2024. Incoming passengers accounted for 50.4% of total passenger flow, slightly outnumbering outgoing passengers.
Cargo handling activity also rose. Georgian ports and terminals processed 4,293.2 thousand tons of cargo in the third quarter, reflecting a 1.4% year-on-year increase.
