Within the framework of the visit of the representatives of the assessment mission of the European Union project EU4IP (aimed at strengthening intellectual property rights (IPRs) in Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine), the head of the project Ibon Ormazabal is in Georgia. The purpose of the mission is to meet with stakeholders and hold technical discussions to prepare the first year work plan.
As part of the visit, the official meetings were held with the chairman of Sakpatent and the heads of structural units in the head office of Sakpatent in Mtskheta. Also, the meetings are planned with the representatives of the High School of Justice, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Chamber of Commerce, the European Business Association (EBA), the Bar Association, the National Communications Commission, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Revenue Service and the Ministry of Finance.
The mission was preceded by the visit of Sakpatent's chairman to the capital of Moldova, where, based on the successful results achieved within the EU-Georgia joint three-year project EUGIPP on intellectual property, an official event was held in connection with the launch of the new regional project EU4IP.
The mentioned project, the budget of which is 4 million euros, aims to promote the introduction of effective mechanisms for the registration, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, the use of intellectual property as a fundamental tool for innovation, to provide a favorable environment for creative activity and free competition. This cooperation will help all three candidate countries join the EU and get involved in the EU Intellectual Property Network (EUIPN).
