Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has sharply criticized recent legislation in Europe, calling it a "complete disaster" for freedom of expression. Speaking in Mukhatgverdi, Kobakhidze expressed concern over what he sees as a growing trend of laws that restrict free speech.
“Laws are being enacted that restrict freedom of expression, and I sincerely hope these trends will reverse, ensuring better protection for freedoms such as speech and expression in the future,” he said.
The Prime Minister accused some European countries of hypocrisy, claiming they promote free speech while introducing laws that limit it.
“Certain countries profess to defend free speech but are introducing legislation that limits it. Look at how far European bureaucracy has advanced. It’s a disaster,” he added, emphasizing his hope for a shift toward stronger protections for fundamental rights.
