Remittances to Georgia Up 13% in July, Driven by EU and U.S. Transfers

In July, remittances to Georgia rose by 13.0% year-on-year, reaching USD 337.0 million, according to the National Bank of Georgia.
The increase was mainly driven by transfers from the European Union, which grew 16.4%, and the United States, up 21.1%. In contrast, remittances from Russia were nearly flat at -0.1%.
The EU remained the largest source of remittances, accounting for 44.3% of the total, followed by the USA (18.1%) and Russia (13.4%). Within the EU, Italy (16.5%), Germany (8.7%), and Greece (7.7%) were the top contributors.
Meanwhile, money sent from Georgia abroad also increased, rising 11.4% to USD 37.3 million, the report noted.
