The Georgian Economy Minister Levan Davitashvili engaged in a meeting with representatives of companies registered in the Samgori district of the capital city of Tbilisi to discuss economic trends in the country, economic goals outlined in the ruling Georgian Dream party’s election programme, and “important” issues for businesses.
"It is important to hold a meeting with businesses in Samgori, as it is one of the most active industrial districts in our city. Tbilisi plays a significant role in the country's economy, with more than half of the gross domestic product coming from the capital. The Samgori district is particularly active, hosting businesses of various profiles including logistics, industrial, and construction. This makes it interesting and important to engage in dialogue with businesses, especially at this time”, - Davitashvili said.
The meeting delved into the ruling party’s election programme and the Government’s “ambitious goals” for 2028.
"We believe that the progress and success of our economy are the result of the private sector’s activity. The private sector should and is playing a leading role in this case. We mentioned we will achieve all this if we maintain peace, stable development, and a predictable investment environment”, the Minister said.
The discussion also centred on “differences between the current and previous governments”, with a focus on freedom for business, ongoing business promotion programmes, and future plans, the Ministry of Economy said.
We imagine the business environment needs further improvement. The state needs to make specific infrastructural interventions, including in this district, to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of business production”, Davitashvili said.
