In cooperation with the National Archives of Georgia, the Company "Gepra" and calligrapher Davit Maisuradze, the fonts were created according to the monuments preserved in the National Archives. “Asomtavruli” was based on the distinctive IX century manuscript called "Anbandidi Gospel", Nuskhuri - kontakion "The Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom" dated to the 15th century, and the modern Georgian script [Mkhedruli] - according to the 17th century monument "The Story of Jason and Medea". The fonts are available to any interested person completely free of charge.
The project is dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the inclusion of “The Living Culture of the Three Types of the Georgian Alphabet” in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. The National Archives of Georgia, along with other state agencies, was actively involved in the preparation of the nomination.
