Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili welcomed a recent statement by OSCE Secretary General Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu, saying it confirms the legitimacy of Georgia’s 2024 parliamentary elections and puts an end to what he described as efforts by Brussels and some diplomats to undermine Georgian democracy.
Papuashvili recalled that prior to the elections, EU representatives had said they would rely on the OSCE/ODIHR assessment. “The conclusion confirmed the elections reflected the will of the people. Yet, once published, many ignored it and began promoting their own narratives,” he said.
Referring to Sinirlioğlu’s recent remarks at the OSCE Assembly, Papuashvili highlighted the Secretary General’s statement:
“Regarding Georgia’s parliamentary elections, which the opposition questions, the ODIHR report clearly states that despite certain shortcomings, the results reflected the will of the voters.”
According to Papuashvili, this reaffirms the legitimacy of the elected government and should silence attempts to question the outcome.
