
In November, pears ranked among the 10 most expensive food products in Georgia, with prices rising by an average of 53 percent compared to the same period last year, according to the National Statistics Service.
At the same time, pear imports to Georgia reached a record level in January–October 2025, based on data from Geostat. Statistics on fresh pear imports have been available on the Foreign Trade Portal since 2009, making this year’s figures the highest on record.
During the first 10 months of 2025, Georgia imported 1,503 tons of pears worth USD 1.133 million. By comparison, in the same period of 2024, imports totaled 1,472 tons valued at USD 1.065 million. This represents a 6 percent increase in import volume over the one-year period.
The average import price of pears (excluding taxes) also increased. In January–October 2025, the average price stood at 75 US cents per kilogram, compared to 72 cents during the same period last year.
According to the National Statistics Service, Georgia imported pears from five countries in 2025, with Turkey remaining the main supplier. Import figures by country are as follows:
Turkey – 993.5 tons worth USD 419.8 thousand
The Netherlands – 343.5 tons worth USD 643.3 thousand
Armenia – 98.5 tons worth USD 42.4 thousand
Azerbaijan – 5 tons worth USD 2.5 thousand
Ukraine – 3.2 tons worth USD 1.3 thousand
The data highlights both rising prices and growing demand for imported pears in Georgia.
