
A working meeting was held within the framework of the ongoing project "Save Nature - Georgia" funded by the Swedish government.
During the meeting, the representatives of the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia, the Head of Environmental Programs of the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and the members of the group implementing the Save Nature - Georgia project discussed the project concept, the activities carried out in the initial phase and further plans.
At the current stage, the needs have been identified by the project implementation team and a technical assignment has been prepared.
The project "Save Nature - Georgia", which is being implemented with the support of the Swedish government, includes the following areas: the development of a management plan for 4 protected areas; the renewal of a management plan for 2 protected areas; the preparation of an action plan for 17 protected areas; the preparation of a water management plan for 2 protected areas.
A sustainable management of protected areas and improvement of management systems is one of the top priorities for the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia. The project activities will help properly manage the resources, including the introduction of modern methods of using the natural resources in the protected area. The budget of the project is 785 000 Euros.
