
As the Ministry informs, the sides discussed the projects implemented by UNDP in the field of agriculture and environmental protection in the country and discussed the issues of future cooperation.
The talks focused on the environmental reforms carried out in the country, including the Forest Code and the Law on Environmental Liability, the implementation of which will be supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in terms of funding and knowledge sharing.
The Minister thanked the representatives of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) for their support in the field of agriculture and environmental protection.
At the meeting, Otar Shamugia noted that in order to improve the economic situation of the rural population, cooperation with international partners in the implementation of other types of projects in parallel with the agricultural support programs will be important.
The conversation focused on the importance of promoting sustainable rural development program under ENPARD-3 and the ongoing issues.
Nick Beresford emphasized that the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia is an outstanding partner of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP); together with the Government of Georgia, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with the financial support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Government of Switzerland and the Government of Sweden, is successfully implementing a large-scale seven-year program in Georgia to reduce the risk of climate change disasters.
The UNDP Resident Representative noted at the meeting that the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in close cooperation with the National Forestry Agency of Georgia, will implement a new project in Georgia - "Support to Sustainable and Climate-Sensitive Forest Management Practices in Georgia", which will be funded by the Government of Japan.
