According to the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, the aviation industry has fully recovered in Georgia. Mariam Kvrivishvili stated this while talking to the journalists after reviewing the tourism and aviation sectors.
"The aviation industry plays a great role in the tourism sector. In terms of aviation, it can be said that comparing to 2019, the aviation industry in Georgia has almost fully recovered. The entry of new airlines into our country is increasing, and direct air traffic is especially increasing in the direction of Europe and the Persian Gulf, which has a direct positive impact on tourism revenues and recovery dynamics," - Kvrivishvili said.
The Deputy Minister did not name the specific destinations and airlines the negotiations are ongoing with today and noted that the focus is still set on the EU countries.
The dynamics of the recovery of the aviation sector in the country is as follows: in the 9 months of 2022, the number of air routes in Georgia has increased by 96% compared to 2019, and the number of routes totaled 81 today.
The number of flight frequencies has been recovered by 90% currently including 355-365 flights.
Only in September passenger flows were recovered by 96%, and the recovery rate within 9 months of the current year is 79%.
Passenger flow recovery rate at international international airports in January-September 2022 is as follows:
Tbilisi - 73%;
Batumi - 95%;
Kutaisi - 97%, 28 destinations and 21 direct flights to Europe.
