The National Tourism Administration of Georgia has launched a new marketing campaign with the National Geographic in order to raise the country's tourism potential.
"A gastronomic guide to Georgia — the country's best wineries and restaurants" - the influential international publication published an extensive article on the online platform with this title; the printed version of the article will be published on June 6.
The author of the article, Emily Lush, describes the nature of Georgia, tourist places, Georgian cuisine and wine.
“Georgia is fast earning its adventure travel stripes, with world-class hiking and off-piste skiing in the Greater Caucasus mountains. However, it's the country's vineyards and kitchens that are really stealing the show with their local wines and field-to-fork cuisine. Vibrant and varied, Georgia’s cuisine reflects its location at the intersection of Europe and Asia on the eastern shore of the Black Sea. The country has a dozen climatic zones, ranging from subtropical to high alpine and semi-desert, which provide a bounty of produce, including 500 indigenous grape varieties. Food is lovingly made using centuries-old cooking techniques, including fragrant stews, bright salads and earthy soups, as well as a wealth of regional dishes,” - Emily Lush says.
The article describes Kakheti, wine cellars, Kvevri and wine preparation rules. After Kakheti, the author introduces Racha and local winemakers and Racha wine to the National Geographic readers.
The article describes Meskheti and Meskhetian dishes, as well as Kutaisi, the UNESCO World Heritage sites, as well as the Black Sea coast and Batumi.
