The event was opened by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, with a welcoming speech.
The 26th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP26) is scheduled to be held in Glasgow.
"Virtually every country worldwide is looking forward to the 26th meeting of the Paris Agreement on the Framework Convention on Climate Change. It is important to note that we have nationally defined a very clear document in this regard.The international assessment of the document underscored the fact that Georgia is one of the outstanding countries with a high-standard, government-approved climate change strategy and action plan," -Levan Davitashvili said.
As the Minister noted during the conversation, the climate change and environmental pollution have a great impact on the daily life of the country, both in various sectors of the economy and agriculture, as well as in the daily life of each citizen.
The participants in the event presented information on the commitments of countries in the global fight against the climate change and talked about Georgia's approaches to overcoming the threats and risks posed by climate change.
The event was attended by the Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, Enrico Valvo, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Georgia, Mark Clayton, the US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, and representatives of the public and private sectors.
