In Turkey, the price of medicines intended for the local market is increasing. This is provided for by the decree issued by Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on July 7, 2022, which establishes new tariffs for pharmaceutical products. The previous order, which has been in effect until now, was adopted in 2017 and the need to revise it arose due to the devaluation of the Turkish lira.
The head of the Georgian Healthcare Group (GHG), Nikoloz Gamkrelidze, states that the Georgian consumer will not actually feel the increase in the price of medicines imported from Turkey, because the lari has strengthened sharply against the lira. As he explained, the list of medicines imported from Turkey would extend by the end of the year.
