According to the Embassy of Israel, MASHAV has been operating in Georgia since 1992 and aims to share Israel's experience, knowledge, technology and innovation with its friendly country.
During the last 30 years, 1600 citizens of Georgia have passed training courses in such fields as: agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, working with people with special needs, healthcare, empowerment of women's rights and more.
The MASHAV Alumni Party coincides with a special date this year, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Israel and Georgia. The successful projects that have been implemented in Georgia with the support of MASHAV during this time were discussed at the event.
"MASHAV has established non-governmental organizations in different regions of Georgia, the so-called Shalom Clubs, where the graduates of the program use collective knowledge, ties and experience to gain grants and implement important projects that will directly benefit their community and region.
For example, the Shalom Club Guria, together with the Embassy of Israel, launched a project to supply Israeli-made water filters to schools and kindergartens. This is an innovative Israeli technology, water purification filter "NUF 250", which was installed in the regions of western Georgia, where the supply of drinking water is problematic. The facility has already been installed in dozens of schools and the water supply-related issue has been resolved for thousands of children and their families.
MASHAV programs are also focused on supporting various socially vulnerable and vulnerable groups. Cooperation with the National Anti-Violence Network of Georgia is noteworthy in this regard. Its founders, Nato Shavlakadze and Eliso Amirejibi, are also graduates of Mashavi. The National Anti-Violence Network is one of the first and largest organizations in Georgia to offer shelter to female victims of violence, while providing employment and helping them achieve financial independence.
The support of Georgia by MASHAV and the Embassy of Israel during the Covid-19 pandemic in cooperation with the organizations such as the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health (NCDC), the Georgian Red Cross Society (GRCS), the WHO Office in Georgia (WHO Georgia), BTU - Business and Technology University (electronic medicine: introduction of digital healthcare management) and the Ministry of Health of Georgia,"- the statement issued by the Embassy of Israel reads.
