
Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said he held a warm and constructive meeting with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan, underscoring the exceptionally close relationship between the two countries.
Speaking on the GPB First Channel programme “Actual Topic with Maka Tsintadze,” Kobakhidze described Azerbaijan as one of Georgia’s closest partners, noting that relations between the two governments are marked by genuine friendship. He expressed confidence that this strong partnership will enable both sides to find common ground on any issue.
According to the Prime Minister, current negotiations primarily focus on determining the framework for transit from Azerbaijan through Georgian territory. He emphasized that Georgia fully takes into account the legitimate interests of both Azerbaijan and Armenia, while also safeguarding its own priorities.
“I am confident that through dialogue we will easily identify a solution that best serves the interests of all three countries,” Kobakhidze said.
Addressing questions about the expiration of the Southern Gas Corridor contract, the Prime Minister confirmed that discussions are ongoing across all related issues. He reiterated that Georgia’s close and friendly ties with Azerbaijan provide a solid basis for optimism, expressing hope that a mutually beneficial agreement will be reached.
