Kazakhstan actively started supplying uranium to the West passing through Azerbaijan and Georgia. As the Kazakh media writes, Kazakhstan's national operator Kazatomprom announced on December 20 the physical supply of natural uranium through the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).
As Kazatomprom writes, the Trans-Caspian route has been used by the company since 2018 as an alternative to the main route, although the country still carried out shipments through Russia. Today, the sanctions against Russia have changed the situation.
"Since 2018, the company has been successfully using TMTM as an alternative route for the delivery of Kazatomprom products to Western markets - to reduce the potential risk of the main route being unavailable for any reason," - the company said in a statement.
Subsequently, the Revenue Service of Georgia also issued a statement on the mentioned topic, where the agency explained that the Kazakh uranium was also being transported through the transport corridor of Georgia in the past. The Revenue Service announced that 787 tons of Kazakh uranium destined for export to Canada crossed Georgia in September.
