An agreement was reached between Kazakh PTC Holding and Georgian partners on the implementation of the multimodal terminal construction project in Georgia. The project will contribute to the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route. The administration of PTC Holding has published the respective information on the company's website.
In Poti, the agreement on the implementation of the infrastructural project between Tbilisi PTC Holding and Georgian partners was made on June 2. The event was attended by representatives of the Georgian state agencies, the banking sector and the private sector.
According to the company, for Kazakhs, the port terminal in Poti will be the first port infrastructure, which will be the main point of the Trans-Caspian international transport route, considered to be important for Kazakh operators due to the geopolitical situation in the world and for the diversification of logistics routes.
As the port of Poti is the final point of cargo transportation of the trans-Caspian international transport route in the Black Sea, the construction of the port provides an opportunity for Kazakh business to participate in the formation of cargo flows, as well as create acceptable tariff conditions for Kazakh exporters in this direction and attract additional volumes of transit cargo through Kazakhstan.
As for the technical characteristics of the project, the company says that for its implementation, a joint venture Poti Transterminal was created on parity basis, where the Georgian side and PTC Holding have equal 50% shares. The estimated cost of the project is $10 million. The terminal itself will be located on 8 hectares and its capacity will be 80,000 containers per year. The completion of the construction is planned in October 2023.
